Left Coast Chamber to showcase master students at OSA event, April 12

Left Coast Chamber Ensemble is well-known for its support of contemporary composers and new music. Each year, the Ensemble commissions and performs several new works and holds an international composition contest.

This year, in a program funded in part by Arts for Oakland Kids, members of the Ensemble are teaching composition to a group of talented high-school students at Oakland School for the Arts (OSA).

Each young composer has been working all semester on a composition, and during the master class, members of the Ensemble will play each student's piece, critique it, and offer suggestions. It's a wonderful synthesis of creativity, composition, and performance.

On April 12th, the Ensemble will conduct a master class for composition students at OSA and YOU are invited to attend.

The master class will be held in Oakland School for the Arts' beautiful new music facility in the Newberry Building. After the master class ends, you're invited to stay for a wine-and-cheese reception, where you'll have a chance to meet the students and members of the Ensemble.
